COOU portal stands for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Portal. Cool is one of the top universities in Nigeria, it is formerly known as Anambra State University, Anambra State.
The University was established in the year 2000 with three main campuses in Uli, which is the main campus, Awka campus, and Igbariam campus. The main campus is located in Uli (the university’s permanent site). Historically, the university was Anambra State University of Science and Technology, then later Anambra State University, and finally what we now know as COOU. Until the university relocated in 2006 it replaced Anambra State Polytechnic.
The university was restructured into three campuses (Uli, Alor, and Igbariam) though not developed as at then. The faculty of law and management Sciences was relocated to Igbariam in 2006, while the College of Medicine and teaching hospital was established in 2010.
COOU collaborates with other federal government agencies such as the Nigerian Security and Exchange Commission which enabled the development of a capital market studies program. The university has over the years received numerous accreditations from professional bodies the likes of COREN, ICAN, Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
COOU’s medical programs started way back between 2008/2009, the clinical programs were fully supported by installed infrastructures in Awka, Anambra State.
