HOW TO WRITE AN ABSTRACT IN RESEARCH
The abstract is the first page a reader will see after the table of content. An abstract is a brief summary of a research paper, it provides the reader with details of the full research project, thesis, journal etc. without having to flip through the entire pages of the research project. Details provided gives the reader an idea of what the full work is all about. the information provided usually covers from chapter one to the last chapter, excluding preliminaries, references and appendices.
Characteristics of An Abstract
An abstract must not exceed 1 page
An abstract should not exceed 300 words
It comes before chapter 1
Contains single line spacing with no paragraph
Font size should be between 12-14
It is written after completion of research project
The page is not usually numbered
The caption “abstract” should be centralized at the top

Acronyms and abbreviations
References to other materials
Ambiguous sentences
Citations of other authors
Table, graph or pictures
