Before we discuss the 5 best courses for art students, I would want you to understand that art courses are one of the best, if not the best, reasons because most courses require graduates to seek employment from existing companies, some have no job market so many students end up working in industries they never studied. But in the case of art courses, there is at least a 98 per cent chance of being self-employed in the art that one studied in their higher institutions. Today, many parents encourage their kids and wards to go for courses because of these obvious reasons and more.

I will not only provide the 5 best art course list, but I will also provide the basic admission requirements for being accepted into an institution of higher learning.

First on my list is Law.

Why should you study law?

Law as an art course provides opportunities to law students in the different aspects of law practice, such as corporate law, public and administrative law, and legal law, among others.

The O-level requirements for the above course include:

Five credit passes in English Language, Literature in English, mathematics, government/History and any other relevant subject for the art course applied.

Mass Communication

This course provides students with careers in public speaking, advertising, broadcasting, journalism and social media account management.

The following 5 subject combinations are necessary to gain admission into the university of your choice after passing the JAMB:

English, literature in English, mathematics, government and or economics and any other relevant.

International Relations

This is another great course that enables students to prepare for careers in diplomacy and foreign affairs. It generally improves one’s soundness in local and global policies. Including the ability to negotiate, analyse policies and enhance cultural skills. Studying this cause could increase one’s chance of employment in Non-governmental organisations, Embassies and other local and international organisations.

Academic Requirements

Credit is at least 5 subjects including English language, Government/History (these are compulsory), mathematics, economics/Geography and any other social science subject.

Theater Arts

Studying theatre arts helps you build a career in film acting, directing, movie production, script writing, and other aspects of media like editing, marketing and general videography, depending on the school. The course will further help you improve your acting skills and general public speaking skills. There is a high employment rate in the movie industry, especially if you prove to be exceptional.

Requirements:

Have at least 5(five) credits in these subjects;

English language, literature in English, and any other three from Government, Mathematics, Economics, History and Fine Art.

Interior Design

Interior design is one of the outstanding courses that has provided self-employment opportunities to many art graduates, even when the economy is not booming. It is a creative but technical design skill that can fetch you so much money if properly learnt. This skill gathers clients mostly from the real estate, architectural industries, home décor and all forms of residential and commercial space planning.

The O’Level requirements include the use of English, Mathematics, Fine Art and any two of: Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Commerce and Religious Studies.

Not all universities offer interior design. It is a new course in the Art Department, but it is fast developing and is accepted globally.
